In 1964 Budd Hopkins witnessed an event that would set him on the path to becoming the father of the alien abduction movement. After observing an object defy the laws of gravity and conventional physics while in Cape Cod, Hopkins would develop a serious interest in the investigation of UFOs. After writing articles for major publications at that time that included The Village Voice and Cosmopolitan, Hopkins received an almost overwhelming amount of correspondence from those who claimed to have, not only have witnessed UFOs, but had close contact with intelligences controlling the craft. After publishing his first book on the commonalities of alien abductee experiences, Hopkins received a letter that would lead him to the subject for his second book.
