No Cop can ever prepare themselves to look down into his former Academy mate’s lifeless eyes at a hospital, where they worked so feverishly to try and keep him from crossing over. But that became my reality on July 25th, 2005, when Dan “Nels” Niemi was shot and killed by a spineless gangbanging POS coward. The horror of it all still haunts me to this day. However, I do look forward to the time when he and I can finish our crazy but highly enlightening conversations about anything and everything!
