Hazelhurst is a town in central Mississippi, 4,000 strong. In the 1870s the town began to boom. It had become a rail stop for the newly developed New Orleans, Jackson, and Great Northern Railroad. Its growth was so large in fact that it became the county seat of Copiah County in 1872 which up until that point had been the town, Gallatin. It was here that one of the most influential and mysterious Blues artists were born, Robert Johnson.
