The area around Freetown is known to some as “the dumping ground of Southeastern Massachusetts”.It’s been called that due to people just dumping unwatned cars in the Freetown State Forest during the gas crisis of the 1970’s.Also what ever other junk anyone felt like pitching in the woods at the time. Now all that is changing, little by little people are coming back to the area, cleaning it up and making it something better, something stronger. However there are things experiences and stories that will never go away.
Freetown State Forest covers more then 5,000 acres offers up 25 miles of hiking trail as well as horseback riding and dirtbike trails. It also has it fair share of strange sights and paranormal happenings.
