The term “Not-Deer” is a modern phrase coined to describe a subset of a supernatural phenomena that has likely permeated North American folklore long before it was recorded in writing. As its name suggests, “Not Deer” refers specifically to wild deer found in forests which are not actually animals at all, but humanlike bad spirits disguising themselves as deer for purposes which are yet to be uncovered. What exactly are they? Some say they are just regular deer with birth defects, while others say they are ghosts, cryptids, or…something worse.
