Amelia is a single mother struggling to raise her son, Samuel. Her husband passed away when they were on the way to the hospital so she could give birth, and ever since then, she has been unable to move on from her grieving. As life seems to be getting more and more cumbersome for her, Samuel finds a mysterious book in his shelf. After reading it for him, Amelia starts to experience strange occurrences. Will she be able to figure out what the Babadook wants, and will she be able to face it?
