It’s a Guest-Episode-Week!! We’re very excited to welcome one of our original, numba-one-spot, fanz: Jacob!! Jacob has been with us since week 2 (literally) and we’re so happy to be able to provide a platform for the story he is bringing this week.
It has come out recently that there have been findings of unmarked, mass graves on the grounds of Canadian Residential Schools. These residential schools were mandatory schools created only for Indigenous children. Starting in 1894, these schools were operating until 1997 when the final school was closed. This is a story of genocide, abuse, and unfortunately most of it was directed towards children – so – **CONTENT WARNING**
Being 1 full-white woman and 1 white-passing mixed woman, we felt it was important to have this story told by an Indigenous person – whom Jacob is. The conversation gets dense (these aren’t “Fun” facts people) but hopefully has a nice dose of sarcasm to keep you chuckling through the groans. Most importantly, we hope you learn something and we hope this can spark necessary, even if it’s uncomfortable, conversation in your own lives.
