Warning: This episode touches on a lot of really dark territory with a true story involving rape, incest, and imprisonment.

The girls start us off with some light banter. You know the usual. Maybe a poop joke or two. Sarah tells us about Victorian post mortem photography, delving a little bit into Western Civilization’s treatment of death, and continued fearful fascination in modern times. Stephanie follows with her darkest contribution yet: the very true story of the Fritzl case. Later the inspiration for the book/movie ROOM, this bizarre, horrific tale is about Elisabeth Fritzl’s mysterious disappearance in 1984. A few years later, her children began showing up on her parents’ doorstep with letters pleading for them to raise the children as their own. Elisabeth, herself, reappeared in 2008 only to give unexpected and unimaginable details about her previous whereabouts.
