The Piri Reis map was discovered in the early 1900s, and dated back to 1513. It was an amazing find- and they could see how the world was viewed from this long ago. Looking at the map, you could see northern Africa, South America, and another land mass that sparked a lot of controversy and curiosity. The other land mass is said to be Antarctica, but here’s the thing. Antarctica wasn’t discovered until January 27th, 1820, and it was strikingly accurate. So, how was Antarctica so accurate?
