The Walking Bear of Erie Street Cemetery – Travel Special
The Erie Street Cemetery sits directly across the street from Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Guardians. The setting of this cemetery is definitely unique but that’s not why it’s famous. It’s famous for being the original resting place of Chief Joc-O-Sot. The Walking Bear, as he was known as, wasn’t happy to have died and been laid to rest in Cleveland. His angry spirit haunted the cemetery and cursed anyone that disrespected his grave. We took a trip out to see this old cemetery ourselves. Chief Joc-O-Sot’s body may have been moved but there is still something lingering this cemetery.
