He bought a haunted building that was once used as a hospital, the Stimson Hospital. One of the hospital’s founders fell to his death down an elevator shaft. On the anniversary date of the doctor’s death, he decided to set up some recording equipment where the doctor met his demise. No one was in the building at the time – and he captured the sound of the elevator, even though it no longer worked.
