We start our examination of the last great tank battle of the 20th century by putting Desert Storm in context. The Carter Doctrine states: “Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force.” When Iraqi forces start a series of belligerent actions towards our allies Saudi Arabia, coalition forces lead by The United States of America spring to action.
