Mysteries and Monsters: Episode 160 Leprechauns, Vampires and Irish Lore with Morgan Daimler

Spread the love
As we head in to the new year, I welcome back the wonderful Morgan Daimler to dive into some more Irish myths and legends.

Morgan’s knowledge on these subjects always educates and opens us up to learning so much about topics we may not know the real history about some creatures we will have heard about.

We look into the real story of the Leprechaun and not the gold hording modern version we all know in popular culture and numerous b-movies over the years. Next, we discover Lugh who was a God of Ireland who is also found in other Celtic language speaking cultures, popular historically and just as well loved today. His story is of epic proportions and one more people should know about.

Morgan also introduces us to two blood thirsty vampires of Irish lore, the Dearg Dur who’s broken hearted suicide saw her rise from the dead seeking revenge and the Abhartach, one of the fiercest of the Irish mythological creatures.

We also get an introduction to the Aos Sidhe, the People of the fairy mounds, and to Irish fairy beliefs to understand the place that fairies have had in Ireland across the millennia and into today as well as a brief chat about the Welsh pixie.
