I darted outside and the noise was definitely coming from above us. I’d guess it was not more than about fifty feet above the house, but I couldn’t see whatever was making the noise at all. I ran around the side of the house to see if anything slow and heavy was rumbling up the lane. I saw nowt, there was nothing moving out there. It also dawned on me that there had been a burst pipe in the lane right outside the house and that had been dug up that day and taped off, so only cars could just about squeeze through. I have no idea what could be making that noise? I haven’t heard it before or since.
