It would seem that, at least in his portrayal in this film, his motivations come from more of a gray area … Feeling betrayed by God for taking away his bride (in both life and the afterlife) after fighting many difficult battles in his name, Dracula swears to come back from his own death to drink the blood of the living as revenge.
