Who was alister crowley? The simple answer according to wikipedia is he was an english occultist, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist and mountaineer. but what did he do that makes him a known name 70 years after his death? It is no secret he was deeply involved in secret societies such as The order of the golden dawn and Free Masonry but his words in his first and most notable book, “The book of The law” seem to transcend time. The book became the sacred text of Thelema, Crowley’s Religion he founded in 1904 and the famous words and teaching of “do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” have been publicly adopted by many musicians and prominent figures in entertainment.
