Bladenboro is a small community surrounded by pine forests and swamps at the southeastern edge of the North Carolina piedmont. A lot of the county is made up of large forests and swampland, a perfect environment for bears, deer, bobcats and just about any other type of beast. It was also the setting for the greatest string of monster attacks during 1953-54 that the state has ever known.

One eyewitness described the animal as “about four and a half feet long, bushy, and resembling either a bear or a panther”. Whatever it was, it was responsible for the deaths of over a half dozen dogs which were all found ripped apart yet devoid of any blood.

Join Gary and GoldieAnn as they take a walk Within the Mist to describe the events of a community in fear of the Beast of Bladenboro.
