In a sex crime case involving a student, a former band teacher was sentenced to at least 50 years behind bars.

Peter Frank was arrested in January 2020 on 12 counts of felony sex crimes, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office media release. According to reports, the crimes began in 2003 and most recently occurred in 2019.

The former Roland-Grise Middle School band teacher was found guilty last month of two counts of first-degree sexual offense, four counts of statutory sex offense, one count of sexual activity with a student, seven counts of indecent liberties with a child, and three counts of indecent liberties with a student.

In the trial, three of Frank’s victims testified about their relationships with the former band teacher from 1998 to 2004 when they were middle school students. A 35-year-old victim reported that Frank inappropriately touched and kissed her when she was in seventh and eighth grade.

It is reported that the Bladen County jury returned the guilty verdict in less than 30 minutes.

During his sentencing on Tuesday, June 7, WECT reported that Frank received three consecutive sentences of 200 to 249 months each.
